God finally opened a window

I posted this in November when DH was let go from his job:

When God closes a door........

On Monday this week; he went for a job interview. The lady who interviewed him, called him today and told him that they were not going to hire him for a part time position as a relief person; but rather, they wanted him to work full time! Whoo Hoo!
He will be going for orientation on Wednesday. We haven't heard yet just when he will actually start working but DH is on Cloud Nine. We went out for dinner tonight to celebrate.

Win an original Cards by Oma Card!

I saw this on Barb's blog and was able to get in the first five! I thought it looked like fun so I thought that I would do it too!

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you!

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make --- but I hope you do!
2- What I create will be just for you --- one of a kind!
3- It'll be done sometime this year (most likely it will be in the next month.).
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. Well, a pretty good bet it will be made of paper!
5-The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog!

The first 5 people to leave a comment win a handmade card or gift (or both! - can we say Candy?) by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it! So....who will be the first 5 people????? Please??? 5????

Ready, set GO! who will the first five be?

C'mon now, don't be shy!
I' ll turn off my comment authorization and won't turn it back on until I get 5 responses.

If these are tulips, it must be Spring!

It was bitterly cold here today and I for one, have had enough of winter. I WANT SPRING! Just looking at this card makes me feel a lot warmer.

I enjoyed making this card. I love tulips and I thought the butterfly and would also go well with the stamp I used. I used the EK Sucess punch on this card as well as my round nestibility which I cut and embossed in my Cuttlebug. I love my Cuttlebug! The paper is from Imaginisce. I bought a paper card Pack that has cards that are prescored and all the cards are made from designer paper from Imaginisce. The pack has a very good variety in it. It also came with the envelopes. I'm not sure who will be the recipient of this card.

Coffee with a friend

I made this card to send to my BFF; Jeanine. She & I have been friends for 50 years! We went to school together for 2 years and even though I moved quite a long distance away; we kept in touch. I don't see her as often as I would like and wanted her to know I miss her. The inside of the card says: "Coffee with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent."
Paper is from Imaginisce and I also used my heart and round nestibilities in my Cuttlebug. The punch I used is a new EK Success punch that I got at Michael's with a 40% off coupon. I love this punch. It stores flat and is so easy to use. I love the paper - so nice and springy and the fact that it has tulips on it wasn't lost on this Dutch girl!

Charisma Cardz Challenge

Well; wouldn't you know that this card fits the bill to Charisma Cardz Challenge this week? The challenge is Hugs and Cuddles and I think this one is perfect and I hope the Charisma design team thinks so too!

Sarah Kay #2

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card as well. Patterned paper is from Imaginisce - Baby Powder - Oopsie Daisy. I used my Fiskars Heart edge punch which unfortunately fell apart and is now history. I got the charm from my niece Krista at an open house she had a while back. I used some bling in the form of clear crystals and the Sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo's Sweet Birthday Wishes and the stamp is My Sweet Lili from Sarah Kay.

Not sure how to finish the inside of this card either. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Sarah Kay #1

I love how this card turned out. I had quite a time putting on all the clear crystals around the scalloped circle. My right thumb and my index finger and middle finger feel numb and tingly most of the time. I think it's because I pinched a nerve in my shoulder a long time ago. They have never been quite the same since. The patterned paper is from Imaginisce - Fairest ofe them all - Enchanted Garden. The stamp is Sarah Kay's - A little help from Margot.

I don't know how to finish off the inside of the card as yet. I am open to suggestions.

Here is a close up view of the stamp. It was stamped on white card stock and coloured in with pencil crayons - (coloured pencils).

Blog Candy

I haven't been entering any blog candy contests lately but when I saw Steph's, I knew I could not pass it up! Steph is extremely talented and is celebrating 10,000 hits in just 2 months! When you read her blog, you'll see why! Good luck everyone!

I feel like

CRAP! Thursday I went to work only to come home again after about 2 hours. I had a very sore throat and was running a fever. Friday I felt a lot better and went to work. I did take some Buckley's Mixture Pills so I wouldn't be sneezing all the time. Yesterday I woke up with a full blown head cold and was very congested. I treated Opa to breakfast and had a nap in the afternoon. We had planned on going to see Janice, Rob and the girls but I felt lousy and did not want them to catch my cold. I had a good sleep thanks to the above mentioned pills but when I woke up this morning; I felt even worse than yesterday. Opa has gone to see my daughter and her family while I am here at home feeling sorry for myself. He has taken the card I made for Janice as well as the valentine lollipops I made for the girls. I also made a small treat bag for my son-in-law but did not take a picture of it.

I have been blog surfing and have an idea for a card so may make that later after I have a nice hot shower and start my laundry. I am off tomorrow for Family Day which is a provincial stat holiday (I think!). Hopefully by Tuesday I will feel a lot better and be able to go back to work. I intend to stay in my jammies today and probably will tomorrow as well.

On another note I signed up to collect donations for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. They always have a drive in the month of February. When I had not received my kit earlier this month I assumed they had forgotten about me. Well, Friday evening I got a call from my area rep and she brought over the kit an hour or so later. I was hoping to get started canvassing the houses on my street that were assigned to me this weekend but it looks like I will be doing the rounds next weekend instead. I don't like going out in the dark to canvass by myself. Two days a week I work from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. so that will cut into the time left to canvass. I'll do my best; but am kind of ticked off that they did not get the kit to me any sooner. The area rep did not receive them until Thursday! Can we say disorganized? Frankly, I am not impressed!

A more traditional valentine card

This is the card I made for my daughter, Janice. Like almost all mothers and daughters, we weathered some stormy times when she was a teenager. We get along well together now and I consider her to be not only my daughter but my friend as well. She is a beautiful young woman and I am proud of her. She gave me 2 gorgeous granddaughters who are the joy of Opa and Oma's life. The day after I met the man who would become her husband; I told my boss that I thought I had just met my future son-in-law.

Here they are on their wedding day:

Here is a recent picture of her:

This was taken when she met Jonathan Knight of NKOTB in September which was one of her favourite singing groups when she was a young teenager. Jonathan is her favourite group member and she was thrilled to pieces when she met him.

Attention Canadian Paper Crafters

Michael's has the Cuttlebug on sale for 50% off all this week. If you've been wanting one but didn't want to spend $80.00 or more, now is your chance. My local Michael's sells it for $109.00 - you do the math - that's only $54.50!

Valentine treat containers

I had a lot of fun making these Valentine Treat holders. The paper and stamps are from Stampin Up's Love You Much Bundle. I got the inspiration and directions from this blog post from Julie.

I made them a bit wider and attached 4 Lindt Chocolate Hearts inside using adhesive dots. I gave the top one to my son Mike and the bottom one to his main squeeze, Sandra. Mike thought they were cool, but Sandra hasn't arrived as yet, but I'm sure she will like it.

I still have to make some more for my hubby, daughter and son-in-law. Hmm, maybe I'll even make one for myself!

Non traditional Valentine's Day Card Challenge

Here is the card I made for my niece Krista's challenge. I gave this card to my son. He loves music and is a part time disc jockey. I thought my Allegro cuttlebug embossing folder would be perfect for his card. Krista's challenge was to include at least one non-traditional colour. I used 2 - beige and brown. Mike likes his card and had a big hug for me when I gave it to him. It now sits on top of a speaker in his bedroom. The stamp set and designer paper I used is from Stampin Up's Love You Much set.

Here is a pic of my son doing what he enjoys doing more than anything. The ugly black glasses and head band are just a part of his act.

Love you much

Valentine cards. I love the Love you Much promotion that SU had in January and couldn't resist ordering it. I made 2 valentine cards with the set today.

I recycled the 2 larger stamps that I punched out of the bottom of the card and added them onto the card. If you look carefully (you can click on the pic and make it larger) it appears there was some oil residue on the heart punch. I guess I should have punched it on scrap paper before I used it on the card. Maybe an SU demonstrator can enlighten me.

When I was in my local scrapbooking store, I found the rubber stamp I used on the bottom of this card. It is made by Great Impressions and I paper pierced along the scroll lines. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up on the picture of the card and doesn't even show up that well in real life either!

The ink I used is by SU - Purely Pomegrante which I bought from an SU demonstrator at her open house she had 2 weeks ago.

Valentine Candy

When I was at the dollar store a week ago, I couldn't resist buying some Valentine Chocolate Candy on a stick for my granddaughters. I was going to take them apart and attach the candy to their valentine cards; but I'm glad I didn't. While reading various blogs today, I came upon this blog post by Lindsay and a little light bulb went on in my head. With the help of my Heart Nestibilities and my Cuttlebug, I came up with this:

This is a view of the candy popsicle inside:

How stinking cute is this!?! I love it! My daughter and son-in-law have a new rule in their house: Whoever brings candy and chocolate to the girls have to live with the aftermath - they have to look after them when they are experiencing the hyper activity that usually follows the consumption of candy and chocolate. But, if I mail it to them, I won't be there to look after them! LOL

Colour challenge card

My niece Krista
issued a colour challenge on her blog last week and this is the card I made for the challenge.

I didn't have all the CTMH papers for the challenge but I improvised with colours I already had.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Sunshine flowers clear stamp set. I used light blue flower brads, and my Cuttlebug to emboss the card, circle and butterfly. I hope she likes it. My son Mike likes the colour combination she chose.

Google Search Fun!

This looked like a lot of fun so I thought I'd try it. Mine are in red.

My responses are in blue.

Type in the following and choose from the first page:

1: Type in "[your name] needs" in the Google search: Anna needs to be excused from class taoday.

Wow! How true is this!?! When I was in grade ten the geography teacher we had spoke in a monotone and was so boring! I used to ask to be excused to use "the facilities" just so I wouldn't have to listen to him drone on and on and on. I still managed to get a decent mark though, as I did the homework he assigned and would read up on whatever city, country or continent we were studying on my own.

2: Type in "[your name] looks like" in Google search: Anna looks like a totally different person.

Well, we all change as we age!

3: Type in "[your name] hates" in Google search: Anna hates bananas.

Not really, I actually like bananas!

4: Type in "[your name] goes" in Google search: Anna goes C64

One word: "HUH?"

5: Type in "[your name] loves" in Google search: Anna loves you.

6: Type in "[your name] eats" in Google search: Anna eats a bug.

This will never happen if I can help it!

7: Type in "[your name] has" in Google search: Anna has a room for rent.

Nope

8: Type in "[your name] works" in Google search: Anna works a few months after her death.

How did I manage that?

9: Type in"[your name] lives" in Google search: Anna lives with horses.

Nope

10: Type in "[your name] died" in Google search: Anna died Thursday afternoon.

Well, why didn't someone tell me!? I could have stayed home from work yesterday!

11: Type in "[your name] will" in Google search: Anna will tackle the toughest of all Mexican dishes.

I do not enjoy cooking and hate hot and spicy foods so I can't see this happening any time soon!

Good news

My SIL Kathy came out of her coma yesterday. The doctors are still at a loss to explain what happened to her. Their speculation is that aside from being under a lot of stress that she may have caught a cold and that the cold is somehow cutting off the oxygen to her brain but this is all speculation. When she came out of the coma; she was shown pictures of her youngest grandchild and did not know who she was. When she was told it was her youngest son's child; she asked who his wife was.

Her youngest son left for Australia on Thursday and will be there for a year. This has also caused her stress.

I was so happy to know that our prayers were answered and that Kathy will be OK. I just hope and pray that this never happens to her again.
