AHSC #197

I used to be a design team member of the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog and I am happy to report that I will be joining them as a design team member again next month.  I decided to play along with this week's sketch as I really like it and I knew it would take me out of my comfort zone.  The majority of the cards I make start off with a sketch that I have pinned on pinterest.  The card I made for this sketch was time consuming and it took me about 1 1/2 hours to make it.  Here is the sketch:

Here is my card using the sketch as inspiration:

I started out with an ivory card stock called French Vanilla by Bazzill.  I then added a layer of Stampin' Up's Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I love the colour combo of Ivory and maroon and use it quite often on my cards and I also enjoy wearing them together.  I used a Martha Stewart leaf punch to punch out the leaves and stamped the flowers with Cherry Cobbler ink and then die cut them using the co-ordinating die.  The flowers are from Bloomin' Love stamp and die set by Stampin' Up.  The sentiment is from the clear stamp set Mug Hugs by Sunny Studio.  I die cut a circle heart die by Spellbinders and used the negatives of the hearts on my card.  The flowers were finished with a small pink pearl in the centres.  The flowers, leaves and hearts were attached using glue dots and the panel was then attached with 3D foam tape onto the cherry cobbler panel.  I am quite happy with how this card turned out.  In order to get a good circle, I traced around one of my circle dies with a pencil which helped a lot.

Sketch N Scrap # 90

When I saw the sketch at Sketch N Scrap, I really liked it and thought it would be a fairly easy sketch to follow.  It took me all of about 20 minutes to put this card together.  Here is the sketch:

Here is the card I made using the sketch as inspiration:

The card base is ivory and I used 2 shades of pink card stock as well.  The design paper is by Doodlebug Designs 6 x 6 paper pad.  I love the papers in this pad and have gone ahead and ordered another one.  The pink hearts were punched using a Martha Stewart punch and the flower was stamped using Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler Ink.  The flower stamp is from the Stampin' Up Bloomin' Love stamp and die collection.  I die cut the flower using the co-ordinating die.  I finished off the flower centre with an enamel dot.  The 3 enamel hearts are by Recollections which I bought at Michaels Craft store.  The sentiment was also stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink and is also from the Stampin' Up Bloomin' Love stamp and die collection.  I thoroughly enjoyed making this card and love how it turned out.  This card was easy peasy!

Try Stampin' On Tuesday #304

I thoroughly enjoyed making a card tonight for the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch challenge.  I just received some stitched circle dies which I knew would be perfect for the sketch.  Without further ado, here is the sketch:

The optional theme for this challenge is to use something old and something new.  The old is the flowered banner die cut and the papers.  The new is the stitched circles, sentiment and the enamel hearts.  I really like this card and even hubby gave it a thumbs up!  I haven't really decided yet as to who will be the recipient of this card, but I hope that they will like it as much as I enjoyed making it.
