Mojo Monday on Wednesday

I`ve been a fan of the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenges for quite a while now and have participated in a few of their challenges.  I haven`t participated for a while so this week I thought I should do something about that.  I had made up my mind to play along even before I saw the sketch.  All I can say is Wow!  I was thinking of skipping this one but I decided I needed a challenge that would take me out of my comfort zone. I have a new Papermania 6 x 6 paper pad that I love and matching cardstock and ink colours which helped me a lot in making my card.  The 1st Monday of every month is also contest week and I would be tickled pink if my card is one of the chosen ones.  The prize is a Verve Stamp set of their choice.  I have some Verve Stamp sets and just love them.  I really like the fact that for almost every stamp set they sell, there is a photo of a card made with the set from one of their design team members.  They also have a gallery on Split Coast Stampers as well as a Pinterest board.

I can honestly say that this card is one of the prettiest cards I've ever made.  I just love it! White base and the  design paper is from Papermania and the ink is SU`s Purely Pomegrante.  The coloured card stock is is from Bazzill - Pomegrante Splash. The flower is Dienamic`s Layered Rose Die and the light yellow flat back pearl is from my stash. The scallop oval punch is from SU.  The sentiment and flower are both popped up on 3D foam circles.  Since I haven`t decided as yet who to send this to, I haven`t finished the inside as yet.  I am pleasantly surprised at how well this card came together in spite of my misgivings when I first saw the sketch.  

 

Birthday card

I love butterflies and I love the Cherry Cobbler cardstock from Stampin Up.  I also love glitter, ribbon, crochet flowers, flat back pearls and punches.  I incorporated all the above in this card:

I used a scallop punch, square punch, edge punch and my favourite butterfly punch.  The white cardstock from Best Creations has glittery butterflies.

Here is how I finished the inside:

I heat embossed the sentiment on a white oval shape and reversed the colours from the front of the card.
If you click on the pictures, you will also notice that the white squares and white butterflies were punched out of white glitter cardstock also from Best Creations.  I am really pleased with this card and have not made up my mind as yet as to who I will be sending it to.

Valentine cards & boxes & Mojo 226

Here are 2 more valentine cards and boxes I made for my granddaughters.

The 1st card I made was inspired by the Mojo Monday Challenge blog.  Here is the sketch:

I chose to make the square card.  Papers are by Heidi Grace and the striped paper is on the reverse side of the paper on top. I punched the sentiment (SU) on a scallop square which was popped up.  The crocheted flowers are from my stash as is the ribbon, heart charm (made with love) and the flat maroon pearls.  I heat embossed the SU heart and punched it out with a heart punch from Marvy which is just the right size for the heart stamp.  My card size is 4 1/2 x 4 1/2.  This card will be going to one of my granddaughters.

Here is another card I made today for another one of my granddaughters:

Needless to say, I love this SU stamp. I heat embossed it and the centre heart is on the inside.  I punched out a heart on the cover of the card, distressed the edges with rose red ink from Versa,  added some flat clear rhinestones and the heart ribbon is from Michaels.

I also made some treat boxes for the girls:  

I watched this tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers.  The boxes did not take very long to make.  I used a MS heart punch, ribbon and flat back pearls. The card stock is Cherry Cobbler from SU (love this colour!).  I plan to fill the boxes with some Hershey Kisses.

Brooke (4 1/2; Amber 15 mos. & Sierra 6 1/2)

This picture was taken in the summer. They sure keep their parents hopping! They were all sick last week but are all feeling better now.  I will be taking some paper craft supplies to their house on Saturday so the 2 oldest (Sierra & Brooke) can make some valentine cards.  I've got valentine stickers, glittery heart foam stickers and ink and sentiments.  I expect we will have loads of fun!

Pretty in Pink for Donna

I made a card for my good friend Donna who lives in Moncton NB.  When I saw her in Nov. of last year, I hadn`t seen her for several years.  She & I met when we were both 17 yrs. old.  We took the RNA (Registered Nursing Assistant) course together in Toronto.  At that time we were both living in a girls residence that was run by the Anglican church in Toronto.  We were together for 4 mos.  She dropped out as she didn`t really like nursing while I stayed in the course and graduated.  We kept in touch and had a few misadventures together that we laugh about now.  Our hubbies just shake their heads listening to us reminiscing about the ``good ole days.``  The Nursing Assistants are now called Registered Practical Nurses.  I spent 8 years working as a nurse and left nursing to raise my 2 children.  I never went back but do not regret it at all. I don`t think I could do the 12 hr. shifts the nurses of today do.  Here is the card I made for her:

I used the emboss resist technique for the sentiment.  I made all the ribbon flowers, added some bling and popped up the sentiment with foam dots. The card stock is from my stash and the designer paper is from Stampin Up.  I added some flat back pears to the center of the flowers.  The one in the lower left corner has a small while flower and is held onto the larger pink flower with a brad. I also added a small flat back pearl to the brad.  I am very pleased with this card and am hoping that Donna will like it as much as I do.
