Kards for Kids

During November and December, I was a busy little crafter.  I made 23 cards for Kards for Kids  for the sick children at the Hospital for Sick Children here in Toronto.   I sent the co-ordinator 25 cards - 2 cards were cards that I made last year.  Bela the co-ordinator always has prizes for the Smiley Team.  I won a $25.00 gift certificate to one of my favourite stamp companies namely, Your Next Stamp.

I am planning on making a lot more cards for them.  On New Years Eve, I looked after Sierra, Brooke and Amber and we made some cards for Kards for Kids.   Sierra and Brooke enjoy making cards with me.  Amber wasn't too interested this time but did colour an image which I made into a card which I let her keep.

The girls did an awesome job and I will post pictures of the cards they made soon.  I still need to take pictures of them.

The theme for the next 2 months is the Zoo.  I bought an Inky Antics stamp set called Balancing Elephant from Pointers Scrapbooking (which I visit on my lunch hour) and made a card with it this morning:

As I did not have a grey coloured pencil, I stamped the image onto grey card stock - easy peasy!

I am also planning to make some valentine cards for the children.  I am thoroughly enjoying my new little venture with Kards for Kids.  Afer all, one can only make so many cards for the granddaughters and other family members and friends!

Best Christmas card ever!!

I have been wanting to make a wreath out of ribbon for a long time.  I finally managed to make one yesterday afternoon.  I`ve tried before but always managed to screw mess it up until yesterday.  I took my time and I think it probably took me about a half hour to make the wreath.  So, without further adieu, here is the best Christmas card I`ve ever made:

The photo does not do this card justice - it is much prettier IRL.  I used a frame embossing folder to emboss the white card stock.  The ribbons and flat back rhinestones are all from my ever growing stash of embellishments.  I love this card and can`t wait to give it to the recipient I made it for.  I`m sure she will be duly impressed.

Merry Monday challenge

The challenge this week was to use any of the past sketches.  I chose sketch #41:

Here is the card I made:

The gingerbread stamps are Snag em stamps from Imaginisce.  I also used a gingerbread embossing folder from Sizzix.  I used my favourite colour card stock - Cherry Cobbler from Stampin Up.  The banner tags are Cherry Cobbler card stock and the design paper which is really hard to see came from a 6 x 6 pad from Recollections - Sugar Plums which I bought at Michaels.  I stamped the images on Kraft from CTMH and then coloured them with Prisma Colour Pencils and cut them out.  This card will be going to Kards for Kids - see the link in my sidebar.  I really like this card and I hope that the child who receives it will like it as well.

Dynamic Duos Challenge

The Dynamic Duos challenge this week is to use light green and red.  I'm pretty sure my card qualifies.

I used bright red & light green cardstock.  I used the Martha Stewart Ivy border punch.  The poinsettias from Verve were heat embossed on red with gold embossing powder.  I also added a bright yellow twinkle goosebumps from Queen and Company.  I punched out some red scallop circles and green circles.  The designer paper is from Martha Stewart.

I really like this card!  Another Christmas card made for my stash.

Two cards, two challenges

My 1st card is for the Merry Monday #43 challenge which is a sketch.  Here is the sketch:

I love, love, love how this card turned out.  I used a framed embossing folder and punched out a gazillion leaves in 3 shades of green cardstock with a Martha Stewart Punch.  I got the idea for the bow from this tutorial on Split Coast Stampers.  Some red and green rhinestones added a perfect touch of bling.

The wreath card will be sent to a very special family but can't say who as they read my blog.  So, that's 2 more Christmas cards done!

Joan's Gardens Challenge

I used the petals a plenty embossing folder from SU; Bell die cut from Marianne's which can be bought at Joan's Gardens and Ivy die cut from Leane Creatif Dies. The poinsettia stamp is from Verve. The ribbon is actually a light shade of gold. I also used a gold half back pearl to the bell.

Merry Monday #37

I have been following this blog for quite some time and have been wanting to play along.  I actually did play along once but did not finish my card in time to enter the challenge.

I really liked this week's sketch so decided to give it a go.  Here is the sketch:

Card stock is from my stash.  I stamped and heat embossed the poinsettias (Verve poinsettia Christmas) with gold embossing powder.  I also heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder.  I punched a star out of gold glitter paper.  The ivy border punch is from Martha Stewart.  The design paper is from a 6 x 6 paper pad - Simple Stories "Handmade Holiday".  I love this paper pad and am looking forward to making more cards with the design paper. I'm very pleased with this card and will be sending it to one of my friends in December.

Red, white & gold Christmas card

I had some time to play this evening so I made another Christmas card.  This card was very easy to make and it took me less than a half hour.  I cased this card and here is a link to the original card: http://stampingwithkris.com/2011/10/14/golden-snow-swirled/

Here is my version:

I used red card stock instead of Cherry Cobbler and I added a gold ribbon with a white bow.  Other than that, it is basically the same card as Kris's.  I'll have to let her know that I cased it.  I love the Snow Swirled stamp set from Stampin' Up and for this card I am envisioning other colour combos (navy, silver & white & green, gold & white).

World Card Making Day

Today is World Card Making Day and I just had to play along.  I created a Birthday card for my Granddaughter Amber who will be 2 on November 2nd.

She loves glitter so I used lots of glitter and glossy accents on her Birthday Card:

Card stock is from Bazzill, designer paper from Imaginisce - Hello cupcake 6 x 6 paper pad.  The cupcake on the front of the card is from Sizzix Hero Arts Stamp & Die Cuts - Happy Birthday cupcakes set.  The images and sentiment on the inside of the card is from Recollections.  I added the bright red stars that were punched using a fiskars punch from red glitter paper that I got at Michaels.  I really like this card and I thought the bright primary colours I used will appeal to Amber.

Dynamic Duos #22

Wow!  It's been awhile since I last updated my blog!  Hmm, must do something about that!  I have been making cards but just have not posted them here.  For that matter, I still need to take some pictures of them as well.

I have been following the Dynamic Duos for some time now.    When the challenge this week was to use Cherry Cobbler (which just happens to be my favourite colour of all time) and your choice, I was inspired to create a Christmas card.

Here is the card I made using Cherry Cobbler, white glitter paper, Ribbon from Fabricland which matches the Cherry Cobbler colour, Marianne Ornament die and Garden Green (SU).  The garden green circle I punched fit the ornament die perfectly.  The Marianne Ornament die was a set of 2 - the other die is a star and I can't wait to use the star on a future Christmas card.  The sentiment was heat embossed with gold embossing powder on a piece of beige paper and then cut with my oval scallop punch.  I am very pleased with how this card turned out.  

When my children (who are now 37 & 35 yrs. old - eek, how did that happen?), I used to put an ornament on their Christmas gifts for them to hang on the tree.  They rather liked that tradition and I have also done it for my 3 granddaughters.  I actually cased this card which I found on Pinterest.  

I haven't decided how I will be finishing the inside as yet.

Better late than never - Mother's Day

Here is the Mother's Day card I made for my daughter Janice.  She has 3 adorable (in my honest opinion) daughters so when I saw this stamp at One Crazy Stamper in Bolton, I had to have it.  Paper is from First Edition - Spring Drop and pink card stock from my stash.- Bazzill Pinkini.  I coloured the image with Prisma Colour Pencils and gamsol.  Note to self - colour the face before the eyes!!  LOL  The ribbons are from my stash and the pink flower rhinestone embellishments are from K and Company - all bought at Michaels.  I am entering this card into One Crazy Stamper May Challenge which is a Mom themed card.

From L - R we have Brooke who will be 5 on July 7 (she was born 07-07-07) Amber who will be 2 on Nov. 2nd and Sierra who will be 7 on June 8th.

Mojo Monday 238

I really enjoy playing along with the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenges.   The sketch this week had me thinking outside the box.  Here is the sketch:

I found some really neat paper at Michaels.  If you click on the picture, you will be able to see the subtle gold rose design on the creamy paper.  I scored the blocks and then sponged Peeled Paint Distress Ink over it to make it look like tiles.  I had just the right colour ribbon, gems and a flower to add to it.  The flower was placed on a square scallop.  I really like how this card turned out.

Mojo Monday 237

I really like the current Mojo Monday sketch so I decided to play along.

 The design paper is from First Edition - Spring Drop 6 x 6 paper pad which comes with some glitter effect papers as well as 2 sided papers.  The pads have 64 papers.  The butterflies were cut using my Creative Memories butterfly punch.  The card base is ivory and the square scallops were cut from the same ivory paper.as was the Recollections edge punch.  I layered the design paper and scalloped border onto pink and also used the same pink for my sentiment.  The sentiment is from Verve's stamp set - Great friend.  The flat back clear crystal and pink crystals are from my stash.  I like the way this card turned out.  I have not finished the inside as yet but will use some of the pink card stock, the border punch, another sentiment and some more of that gorgeous designer paper.

I ordered 4 different 6 x 6 First Edition paper pads from Scrapbooking Warehouse.  They are located in Grand Rapids Michigan.  I ordered them on Saturday, they shipped them Monday and they arrived on Thursday.  I paid a total of $41.72 and that included shipping.  I saved $2.00 on each of the 4 paper pads so the savings paid for the shipping fee. I am very pleased with the quality, colours, designs and how quickly these pads arrived.
