Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #201

I really like this weeks' sketch challenge and had a lot of fun making a card for it.  Without further ado, here is the sketch:

Here is the card I created using the sketch as inspiration:

I started out with a pink cardstock base and added an embossed panel.  The embossing folder I used is by Nellie Snellen - Small flowers 1.  I then stamped and die cut the flowers and leaves which are by Creative Expressions - Shaded Peony which in my opinion go very well with the embossing folder I used.  I used a Fiskars Punch for the sentiment.  The sentiment is by Hampton Art.  I also added a pink and a maroon ribbon.  I am very pleased with this card and it will be going to someone special soon.

Try Stampin' (or not) on Tuesday challenge #311

Wow!  Try Stampin' (or not) on Tuesday is celebrating 7 years of challenges this week.  Not only that but Cheryl has just celebrated her 45th wedding anniversary.  Hubby and I are right behind her as we will be celebrating 45 years of wedded bliss on July 15th this year.  Where have the years gone?

I love the sketch this week along with the optional theme of checks or plaid.  I have several Lawn Fawn 6 x 6 plaid paper pads so decided to play along this week.

Here is the sketch:

Here is the card I created using the sketch and optional theme of plaid as inspiration:

Card stock base is Simon Says Stamp Surf blue.  I then added a layer of Neenah Desert Storm.  The plaid layer is by Lawn Fawn - Winter plaid.  Another small layer of the Surf Blue and I stamped the sentiment which is by Simon Says Stamp Coffee and Tea clear stamp set with Versafine Majestic Blue Ink onto a stitched square of the Neenah Desert Storm using my Hampton Art Stamp Perfect to center the sentiment.  I added some coffee beans and the coffee mug which came from the  pack of Doodlebug Shape Sprinkles - Latte Love.  I decided this card needed a bit more bling so added 3 Cotton Candy Blue Enamel Gumdrops by Your Next Stamp to finish it off.  I really like this card and I enjoyed making it.  I thought the colours of the card stock and plaid paper look very nice together.

AHSC #199

First off, I'd like to thank Michelle from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog for allowing me to join the design team again.  I was a design team member 3 years ago.  As I am on Team A; this is the sketch we are working with this week:

Here is the card I created using the sketch as inspiration:

This card came together quite quickly.  The design paper including the picture of the coffee cups is from the 6 x 6 Doodlebug paper pad - Cream and sugar.  I layered a piece of  Simon Says Stamp Surf Blue cardstock onto the kraft card stock.  The sentiment which is stamped on the kraft banner die is from Simon Says clear stamp set - Coffee and Tea.  I used Versafine Majestic Blue to stamp the sentiment and the 3 small hearts.  My daughter loves coffee almost as much as I do so this card will be going to her for Valentine's day.  I'm sure she will like it as she told me a long time ago that she is not into typical female images such as flowers and hearts.  She is a health food fanatic and enjoys running so I have some T-shirt stamps and sentiments as well as a running sentiment and image stamps for when I want to make a card for her.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #198

Starting this month I will be a design team member of Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I am on Team A so will be making a card for Challenge #199.  In order to get back into the groove, I decided to make a card for Sketch #198.

Here is the sketch:

Here is the card I made using the sketch as inspiration.

I really like this sketch.  White card stock base, Kraft card stock for the sentiment which was die cut using a stitched circle die.  I also used the kraft card stock for the banner tag.  I added some sparkly enamel dots by Your Next Stamp to the banner.  The design paper is from the Doodlebug 6 x 6 paper pad - Cream and Sugar.  I added a strip of gold shimmer tape and punched out a bow to finish off the card.  The sentiment was stamped with SU's Cherry Cobbler which just happens to be my favourite colour at the moment.  I used my Hampton Art Stamp Perfect to stamp the sentiment so it would be centred on the circle.  I bought the Stamp Perfect at Michaels using a 50% off coupon and am very happy with it.  It will make stamping so much easier especially when I want to center an image or sentiment onto a die cut.  I am happy with how this card turned out.  I bought the Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit.  The gold hearts are from the card kit.  The only drawback to this stamp kit is the fact that it only came with 3 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock papers - white, kraft and light blue and only a 1/2 pad of the design paper.  I have pre-ordered another pad of the 6 x 6 paper pad and some more of the embellishments which came with the kit.  I love coffee and usually drink at least 5 cups of this golden nectar a day so have been building up my stash with coffee sentiments and dies.

Fusion card challenge

I really like the sketch on the Fusion Card Challenge blog so decided to play along.  What I really like about the Fusion card challenges is the fact that you can use either the sketch or the photo or use them both thus the name Fusion.   My card came together quite quickly and I enjoyed making it.  Here is the sketch & photo:

I chose to go with the sketch and here is the card I created using the sketch as inspiration:

The white card stock base has small butterflies embossed on it.  I bought several pieces of this particular card stock a long time ago and have made a few cards with it.  I love butterflies and I also love flowers.  I used a cuttlebug embossing folder with butterflies for the yellow panel.  The design paper is from a Doodlebug 6 x 6 paper pad called Springtime.  The yellow die cut butterfly is by Your Next Stamp.  I really like this card and the inside was stamped with a birthday greeting and will be sent to one of my best friends who I have been friends with since 1958!  I am sure she will like it just as much as I do.
