Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #23

As soon as I saw Sketch 23, I knew what I was going to create.  Without further ado, here is Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #23:

Here is the card I made following this sketch:

Card stock is from my stash.  I used the Petals a Plenty embossing folder from SU and ran it through my cuttlebug.  The poinsettia die is by Poppy Stamps.  If you look closely; you will see that the poinsettia and leaves also have some embossing.  I added a yellow twinkle to the centre of the flower and also decided that I needed to bling it up some more by adding some red flat back self adhesive rhinestones.  I am very pleased with how this card turned out and can see myself making more Christmas cards using this sketch.  I think it would also look nice with an ornament, snowflake or bell die.  The sentiment is from my stash as well and was stamped with Versa Ink - Rose Red.

Won't you join us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge?  If you're lucky; the design team of which I am a member might pick your card for a Top 3 pick and you will be able to display the Top 3 badge on your blog.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 21

I really like the sketch this week for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and made not one but two cards!  They are both Christmas cards.  Here is the sketch:

Because of the butterfly on the sketch; my first instinct was to make a spring/summer butterfly card.  Then I changed my mind and decided to make a Christmas card instead as I need more Christmas cards for my stash.

Here is the 1st card I made:

I love the gold and maroon colours on this card.  The scalloped circle with the poinsettia is popped up with 3D foam dots.  I decided to add a gold ribbon to this card as well.  The card stock is all from my stash.  The sentiment was stamped with SU Rich Razzleberry.  The sentiment is from The Stamps of Life - Lights for Christmas which was stamped onto cream cardstock and then fussy cut.  I really like this stamp set.  What I really like about Stamps of Life is that they have a photo gallery of cards made by their design team featuring the stamps for each stamp set they sell.  I did not; however, copy one of their cards that is in their gallery.  I was so pleased with this card that I made another card in another favourite Christmas colour combo - silver and royal blue.  Here is the 2nd card I made:

I used another sentiment from the Stamps of  Life stamp set.  All cardstock is from my stash and the design paper is from Papermania.  The die is from Memory Box.  I love their dies and have several of them.  This card came together quite quickly as I had already cut the ornament dies.  The hardest part was using my Quicky Glue Pen to attach the die to its angel wing base.  I really like this card and even hubby likes it!

Won't you join us at Atlantic Hearts and create a card or two using this sketch?  If you're lucky, your card might be picked as a Top 3 Pick and you will be able to display the badge on your blog.

Merry Monday Challenge

The challenge this week at the Merry Monday challenge is to use Red, Green, Kraft with a choice of ribbon, twine or burlap.  I didn't add ribbon, twine or burlap as the 1st card I made didn't really suit any further embellishments.

Here is my card:

Card stock is from my stash and the embossing folder is petal a plenty from Stampin Up.  The poinsettia die is from Poppy Stamps and I added a bit of bling to the centre of the flower. I do not know the manufacturer of the sentiment which was heat embossed.  I really like this card.

Here is the 2nd card I made for this challenge:

Card stock is from my stash.  The design paper is by Recollections 6 x 6 paper pad - Sugar plums.  The sentiment is part of the design paper and I also fussy cut the houses and tree.  The gingerbread embellishment is from my stash.  I also added a gold punched star.  The gold ribbon is also from my stash.  I wasn't too happy with this card initially, but now I think it's kind of cute!

I am also entering this card in the One Crazy Stamper blog - their theme for September is Christmas.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 19

The sketch this time around is so easy and clean and simple.  It literally took me less than 15 minutes to to cut, punch and stamp my card.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

I used 2 different Martha Stewart punches.  One of the punches embosses and cuts.  I added some ribbon for a border for the hearts.  Papers are by Papermania - Vintage Notes - 6 x 6 paper pack.  This paper pack also included some different shaped journaling cards which I cut out.  I stamped the sentiment with Versa Fine ink onto the journaling card.  I will be giving this card to hubby next Valentines Day as long as I remember that I made this card for him.

Won't you join us and play along?  If you are lucky you may be able to display a Top 3 badge on your blog.  I am having a blast doing these sketch challenges.  Some of them have me thinking outside the box and challenge my creativity.

Another Challenge card

This is my second post for today.  Scroll down to see the 1st one.  I love sketch challenges and love that I am able to enter 1 card in more than one challenge.  Techno Stamper had an interesting sketch that I wanted to do.  Here is the sketch:

You'd think that with the butterfly on the sketch that I would make a card featuring a butterfly knowing how much I like butterflies!  I decided to add another Christmas card to my stash as Christmas will be here before you know it!  Here is my take on this sketch:

I used a High Hopes Stamp - Niki Sweet Tooth and as luck would have it, had the perfect design paper to go with the image.  The paper is from Recollections - 6 x 6 paper pad - Sugar Plums.  The sentiment which was stamped with Versa Fine Majestic Blue is from CTMH.  If you click on the picture, you will notice that I added glittered green circle with a flat back rhinestone onto Niki's hat.  I coloured the image with my Prisma coloured pencils.

I am also entering this card into the One Crazy Stamper challenge which is Christmas as well as the High Hopes challenge which is to use pearls or gems.

I will be sending this card off to Kards for Kids to be given to a child at the Hospital for Sick Children.  I really need to be making more cards for them soon for the Christmas season.

Christmas card challenge - Use something new

When I went to One Crazy Stamper in Bolton on Wednesday to pick up my preorder; I spotted  a die that I just had to have and wonder of wonders; it jumped right into my hands!  I love dies and love creating with them!  I was super excited that this week's Christmas Card Challenge was to use something new!

Here is the card I created:

I used some peel off gold stickers for the corners.  The dies are from Memory Box and the sentiment which was heat embossed with Stampendous Pearl Lustre embossing powder is from Verve Stamps.  I used the swirls that were cut from the die and added them to the top of the dies to simulate a tree hanger.  The design papers are by Martha Stewart.  The gold paper is from Michaels and I also have some of this paper in silver and will probably make a blue and silver version of these dies.  I really like this card and it came together very quickly.

I am also entering my card into The Challenge Chicks which is to use die cuts as well as One Crazy Stamper challenge for this month which is Christmas.
